Accounting Specialist

Job Description

The Accounting Specialist position requires full cycle Accounting experience including, Payroll, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger, Bank Account Reconciliation, and Balance Sheet Account Reconciliation. This position requires strong leadership and plays a hands-on role mentoring the day-to-day activities of the accounting team.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain company financial and accounting systems, including accounts payable, general ledger, accounts receivable, payroll, cash disbursements, financial statements, tax information and internal auditing
  • Monitor and track employee accounts receivable, tools, uniforms and other related items
  • Prepare journal entries to ensure an accurate General Ledger in accordance with GAAP through a timely month-end close
  • Complete account reconciliation monthly, researching and resolving any issues identified
  • Manage cash resources of the company, accounting for cash receipts, preparation and issuance of checks and monitoring cash flows
  • Post financial data and complete transactions within the company`s accounting software
  • Complete projects of a financial or accounting nature as directed by the Vice President of Plant Operations and Controller
  • Provide administrative support to the Vice President of Plant Operations, Controller and HR Manager
  • Maintain paper and electronic filing systems
  • Work closely with leadership, employees and third-party payroll services provider to resolve payroll, tax and accounting-related issues
  • Comply with federal, state and local payroll and accounting requirements
  • Maintain financial security by following internal controls
  • Prepare accounting and payroll reports as requested
  • Complete other duties as assigned

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and qualifications:

  • College coursework in accounting, finance or related-field preferred
  • Related work experience preferred
  • Time management
  • Data entry accuracy
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience in Microsoft Office Suite
